African American Male; 3.17 (UW); 29 ACT

Does USC ever accept students with stats like these? I saw their freshman profile and it looks like my chances are slim to none. Can someone give me some insight?

It’s going to be tight but you never know. If you can show you have something to offer (in your essays, resume, and interview) you just might catch someone’s eye.

Good luck!

There are several factors they’ll look at while considering your GPA. First of all, did you take hard courses? Did you attend a really tough high school? Did you have a bad freshman year, and then get high grades? Did a difficult family situation impact your grades?

I think they’ll take a careful look because URMs with high ACT scores like yours are not common.

how important is the interview? can that make or break you?

USC doesn’t interview a lot of its students since it is so big; but you should pursue it if you think you would have an exceptional interview since it might help and can’t hurt

What do you want to major in and do you have a strong application (awards, work experience, recommendations, etc.) to support your application? Did you consider taking the SAT and compare the SAT score with the ACT score, send in the best score?

ur gpa is really going to hurt you. whats ur class rigor like? and whatr ur ec’s look like?

I’m in the same boat as the original poster,
UW GPA-3.34 ACT-29 SAT-1880

Ec’s are school related, church, NHS, interning, trip to africa last summer

dad is an alumni…please tell me i have some chance!

^ Just write amazing essays and get some great recommendations .

VSkills - Very slim with that very low UW GPA. Spring admit at best.

You’re a minority. You have a considerably higher chance. You never know.

I think the gpa IS WAY to low.

3.5 would make the cut.

No gpa is ever too low. The whole application has to tie together, not just the Gpa.
