AFROTC Scholarship

I plan to apply for this scholarship and eventually join the Air Force as a Civil Engineer or Architect. I am currently a Junior, I was wondering how I should go about it and if I should begin filling out and submitting the application. My only concern is that I dont have enouch ECs to qualify, they asked for us to have a resume and a I feel I dont have much to put there. I am also a bit confused about the process of attaining the scholarship, so I would appreciate some insight from those who applied.

You need to get on the site and get the info. You are on target time wise. Your grades, and your test scores will be very important. Your ECs are not as important, but you can join a service club, volunteer teen firefighters, anything to add another something to your list. You should be doing a little bit in your community. Do you have a job? Have you worked? That is a perfectly valid and valuable activity.

Another suggestion is to find out where the nearest AFROTC detachment to you is. You will be interviewed by an officer at this detachment after your application has been received next year. You can get a head start by contacting them this year and asking them what they look for when recommending cadets. They will also have a pretty good idea based on the qualifications of their cadets who have been successful at earning scholarships.

An important note however, is that AFRTOC awards scholarships to individual detachments. Thus, the criteria that is successful at one school (public with cheaper tuition) will be lower, perhaps significantly lower, than at another school (private with higher tuition).
