I’m installing the demo on my new Dell 9300. Here’s the error message that I get:

Direct 3D initialization failed. Possible causes:
Old or corrupted graphics driver.
Direct 3D improperly installed.
Hardware acceleration disabled.
Starting the application with the workstation locked.

My Directx 9c looks good. Ive poked around, reinstalled, etc. and haven’t found a solution. Any ideas?

Even though you have a new computer, you may not have the latest video drivers for your video card. Try the following:

Go to your opening Windows screen
Place your cursor anywhere on the screen and right click
Click on “Properties”
Select “Settings”
Check to see if your screen resolution and color quality is set correctly for your software/game
Then click on “advanced”
Click on Troubleshoot
See if your hardware accelerator is set to full
Then click on “adaptor”
Click on “properties”
Click on “driver”
Write down your driver version

Now go to the Nvidia website and go to their download area. Search for your video card model and see if there are any new drivers for it.
Download the driver and see if that helps.

Do the same for your DirectX drivers.

Of course, youre logged on as Owner/Admin

Hope this helps…
