This is a slightly bizarre question, but I was wondering if there were age requirements to intern for a liquor company…I couldn’t find anything online about this.

I doubt there would be any, but maybe there are some states with unique laws. I believe in some states it’s illegal for someone under 21 to sell/handle liquor while it’s not in others, so there may be some other weird thing that could come into play if you’re working at a liquor company.

There are 4 distilleries in TN (I actually met the JD master distiller) and although I don’t know any specifics of employment at any of these, but the age at which someone can sell liquor is 18 in the state (groceries, convenience stores, liquor stores) so I couldn’t imagine the distilleries being much different.

Thanks for your help! I had a conversation with someone at a liquor company about an internship, and was told that it was her company policy to only hire people over 21…So I guess it’s not necessarily the law but companies may make policy to prohibit it.
