Age spots

Seems like very cosmetic company has something to fade them. Even Proactive the acne brand!
Does anyone have experience with something that works?

I purchased a ponds cream for traveling about a month ago at target not realizing that it was a spot fader and it has been wonderful. My husband and daughter have both noticed how even toned my skin is getting. I think it was $1.99 (travel size). I still more than half left in the container.

I can tell you NOT to bother with the Clinique product. It didn’t work at all for me.

Thanks for the tip collegeshopping!

What do these spot removers do if you have freckles?
What happens to you in the sun if you live an outdoorsy lifestyle?

collegeshopping, can you please share the exact label on your Ponds cream?

I was just having my roots done and the hairdressers arm was full of red spots (like freckles, only red and just on one arm. The other arm was still "freckled) I asked what happened and she said she just had laser treatment for the sun spots on her arm. She only did one arm as a test. She was told not to worry because the red would just “sluff” off…I might be worried about this one!

I had both my hands and my cheekbone area lasered by my kids’ dermatologist seven years ago and haven’t had a problem in those areas since. However, my hands looked terrible for a week afterward! They had the bulk of the spots and the lasered areas looked purplish (sp??). Aside from the temporary eyesore, I would definitely do it again.

I’ve been using prescription Rentin A for many many years and have no age spots on face neck or chest. However, I started noticing them on my hands and arms so I started with the Retina A in that area also. It has a ‘break in period’ where you look blotchy and scaly but within a few weeks the spots were gone. I used the 0.1% (which is the strongest) and mix it with one part face cream. This not only makes the scaling less severe but also it’s cheaper.

I’ve been able to purchase the produce in Mexico each year where it runs about $22.00 a tube…I know it’s much more expensive in the US. Son started using the 0.05% product when he started getting more teen acne than his comfort allowed. It has worked very well for him.

You must, must, must be very diligent in the use of sunscreen if you choose to use Retin-A

I’ll second the Retin-A (or generic version of trentoin) it works wonders on “age-spots” as well as builds collagen and smooths wrinkles (or helps prevents them!)
I also had a small area lasered and wow was I shocked at first…it looked terrible…all purple-ish… I was worried I made a bad decision…give me the old spot back instead! But as your hair-dresser was told…in about a week (for me) I woke up and had perfectly clear skin in that area! Now if I only had the spare change I would do my entire face and chest area for perfectly clear and smooth baby skin again, but alas it is not cheap or covered by insurance!

Clinique product DOES work for me! It’s sooo expensive though; I’ll look into the Pond’s stuff instead. The Clinique stuff started working noticibly almost immediately. I’m very fair & freckly, perhaps it works better for some types rather than others. I always apply sunscreen afterwards, in the morning. I can’t use any of the stronger, retin-A type products; they seem much too harsh for my skin. Oh, it’s the Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector…no wonder I couldn’t remember the name before! Worlds’ worst name.

Where did CollegeShopping go? I too want the name of that Pond’s product!!

Maybe it’s this: <a href=“Walgreens: Pharmacy, Health & Wellness, Photo & More for You”>Walgreens: Pharmacy, Health & Wellness, Photo & More for You;

Here I am!

The one I bought at Target was 1.7oz “Ponds Clarant B3” and it could not have been more that a couple of bucks or I would not have bought it…lol

Here is a back of 2, 7 ounces each on Amazon and the reviews which I have never read before I posted about this here. I am not the only one who has had good luck with it…

[Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Pond’s Ponds Clarant B3 Anti-Dark Moisturizing Cream, For Normal to Dry Skin, 7oz Jars (Pack of 2)](http://www.amazon.com/Ponds-Clarant-Anti-Dark-Moisturizing-Normal/product-reviews/B002VA4LMU/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1)

I am SO running to CVS in the morning…

My post two up should have said “pack of 2” but regardless…considering anything from a department store counter will cost you at least $50 for 1.7 ounces…it is a no risk try.

I purchased a retinol product as that is supposed to work well. It is ROC.

Anyway, my skin is scaly/dry from using it for the past two weeks, though I see improvement already (unlike some other products I wasted money on). Clinique did not work for me.

Does your skin get used to the product and scaling go away soon? Not noticeable after foundation is applied, but now I have dry skin and age spots!!

^^ Yes. The dry scaly skin is the result of exfoliation. Getting rid of old dead skin so new fresh skin can surface.
Your skin will get used to the product but you don’t want scaling to completely disappear because you want new skin cells to constantly turn over, but you won’t notice much scaling.
I’ve been using Retin-A for over a decade and my skin doesn’t appear to be peeling any more but I know cells are constantly sloughing off when I wash my face because it glistens afterwards.

Anysthing on the face use on the back of hands…nothing ages like hands
