Agriculture/Animal Science Schools -- Need Help

My daughter is an animal science major with plans to go to Vet school. She is down to Clemson, University of Tennessee Knoxville, UGA, and Purdue. She is looking for somewhere that has a good, close community but with opportunities to get experience while in college. She has visited Clemson and UTK and liked both of them and she has a visit to Purdue scheduled. Any advice on one school over another would be appreciated.

They all will fit the bill. I’d base it on budget and her preference.

Congrats to your daughter on some wonderful acceptances! I don’t think she can go wrong with any of her choices.

My D graduated from Purdue engineering but I’m happy to answer any general Purdue questions. My D’s roommate was an animal science major and had a lot of hands on experience. There is a brand new vet hospital right on campus so convenient to get practical experience and she had internships every summer.

Is there any significant difference in cost? Are all of them affordable without taking on any debt?

My older daughter is currently studying for a DVM. She has said that most of the other students in the same program are taking on too much debt, and do not want to talk about it. DVM programs are expensive, and anyone intending to take this path should be budgeting for 8 years in university.

And she loves it!

And the four schools that you mentioned are very good. Unfortunately I do not know enough about them to recommend one over another, assuming that they are equally affordable.
