Ah - application is done!

That’s right: three months’ work finished in just one click.
What now? Apocalypse, end of the world? Not really. Although I mostly enjoyed doing my application (especially the essays; it was really interesting to write about myself), I am now definitely looking forward to the next three months. What does that mean? Well, I am going to take Marilee at her word: “Don’t forget to have some fun this year”. OK, she probably referred to 2005. But hey, it’s never too late. At last I can now fully concentrate on my real passions again. Computer science, I am coming ;)

PS: Oh, good luck to all of you!

you think u will get in? international pool is tough. I live in Boston close to Mit

No, no, I guess you misunderstood me. I am not thinking about my chances in any way. And I would be snobbish, fatuous and unrealistic to think that I would get in. I am just happy to have more time right now to pursue my interests (i.e. computer science, programming).

And yes, international pool is really tough. Incredibly tough.

lol yea, worth a try tho

i donno y i didnt apply there my dad went there

hi abless,
What kind of programming do you do.
Do you have any competition experience. Are you interested in competing. Or your interest is in the applied programming.

I am in the same situation. I will submit my application in the next two-three hours and I will really try to have some fun after that.

Hi Swetko.
I don’t have any competition experience in computer science. It is not a school subject here in Germany; besides, competition are rather unknown/unusual here, not to mention in computer science.
Anyway, I have always been programming just for fun. I love it, it is a true passion. My projects were pretty diverse (I have, for example, written several projects for network programming). My biggest project was an operating system, though.

I wish you all the best for your application. Do you program, too?

Yes, I do program.
But my programming experience is rather limited (in terms of breadth).
I am only knowledgeable in competition programming and I have participated in some international competitions.
But I have never programmed anything else.
If you are interested what exactly is competition programming search for IOI or take a look at the course 6.046J (Introduction to Algorithms) at MIT. I could say i know more than half of the textbook for this course. Programming competitions consist of solving algorithmic problems.
