Ahh lets give it a CHANCE

and the only reason I added the fact that the summer programs were free was because i know the paid ones (courses at different universities) don’t necessarily look too good on an application

k well thats about it
I’m thinking of applying SCEA to Yale in the fall so what do u guys think?
Thanks In Advance!!

Wow, just skimming through I’d say you have a pretty good chance. However, not to dampen your happiness or anything, but keep in mind that Ivy League things are never definite for anyone. Don’t be discouraged if you apply somewhere SCEA or ED and don’t get in, because you’ll still have a chance to get in somewhere else.

You are obviously bright and motivated. Play up your work as a cameraman for the local TV station because it appears to be the one place where you have gone outside what is offered at your school (excluding your summers). Your weakness is that your leadership and activities, while great on an absolute scale, haven’t been taken to the level that highly competitive Yale applicants have. I’m not saying that everyone at Yale has won a state or national award or founded some incredibly important enterprise, but many have. Yale is looking for kids who have distinguished and pushed themselves beyond the confines of their school.

Check out the accept/deny/waitlist threads from this past admissions cycle where people gave detailed personal profiles for the best insight of how you stack up.

hey guys I really appreciate the feedback and yeah I know that many applicants have some pretty amazing accomplisments at some really high levels, but like you said some dont, and there are always those students who seem to have everything going for them and then end up getting a rejection letter come April, so i know that nothing is ever definite in elite admissions, and that Im definately not as qualified as many who will apply next year, but I was just wondering what you guys thought
Thanks Again!!

bump/question… I know I’m going to take Math IIC in the fall as my third subject test, but do you guys think that a 720 in US History is worth a retake? I know I could do better, since the time I took it was right in the middle of AP season etc… but I was just wondering is another 40-80pts on a subject test worth a retake?

bump10char

Well, Yale only needs two subject tests so…

true but other schools need three, so I was just fishing for some input…

i got into Yale with a 710 in Chem.

Your chances are great, but just like everyone else, you really, really have to play your cards right. See http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=4180208&postcount=2

thank you all for the advice, much appreciated

i’d say you are pretty solid…but then again, it’s YALE

ACTs came in recently, 34 composite, dont remember the individuals off the top of my head… i know the writing subscore was kinda low tho, only a 9 compared to the 11 on the SAT, so now I’m wondering which ones to send, also can I send both?? just wondering, thank you all again for your help and advice in this process
