My class rank and GPA would be higher if I had not been a class officer for 4 years. Student Gov’t is a class at my school and therefore not weighted. Also, because my love of medicine I have been enrolled in the Medical Academy for three years (Nursing & Allied Health) which is not weighted either. However at the end of my senior year I will have my CNA license in nursing.

Schools Applying to - summer session if offered and I am a Florida resident hoping to pursue Pre-Med:

University of Florida (maybe their Honors College)
University of Georgia
Miami University
Duke
Florida State University
University of Central Florida
University of South Florida
Auburn University
Brown

Researching other schools offering PreMed in or out of state.

Voted by peers for the ‘Most Likely to Succeed’ senior superlative

this is not something you put on your resume. lol.

Apply to your top schools, but remember that your test scores will hold you back a lot. For somebody with perfect 4/4 grades, an 1880/29 is very bad.

With the exception of Duke and Brown, all of those schools are matches (or high matches). You’re test score is a bit low for a few of them (UF, UGA and UM), but your GPA and class rigor should make up for any issues.

UF honors requires a 2070 SAT, but you can petition for entrance (and with a decent essay, you should be offered a slot). Note that your UF GPA is not 5.0. All of your honors and pre-aice classes are worth 1/2 point, and you don’t include non-academic classes (such as student Gov). Even with re-calculating your GPA, I’m sure it’s still fine for UF.

Good Luck!

Duke and Brown are reaches, due to the low test scores.

UP DATE:

I applied to:

FSU - accepted Honors
UGA - accepted Honors
USF - accepted Scholarship

University of Miami - find out today but really hoping for that YES from University of Florida in twelve days! My GPA is now at 5.24 but like Gator88NE said, that isn’t pulling the couple of non-academic classes out of the equation. CROSSING FINGERS to be a Lil Gator!

Your GPA and ECs are very good, showing a nice mix of leadership abilities and team-oriented roles, however your tests scores are a little low for Duke. Still apply though. Id say a match/low match for all of the Florida schools and a reach for Duke.

My thread (chance pls): <a href=“Chances for Vanderbilt, UNC, NYU, UF, and Duke? - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1610985-chances-for-vanderbilt-unc-nyu-uf-and-duke-p1.html</a></p>

I’d say with the exception of Duke and Brown that all your other schools are matches. When applying to schools like Duke and Brown, it’s a reach for anyone. However, if you’ve set yourself apart in some unique way in your essays, then it is possible. Good luck!

Chance me back: <a href=“Brown University...Again. - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1610685-brown-university-again-p1.html</a></p>

Ended up not applying to Duke. Instead, applied to UF, FSU, UM, USF and UG. Was accepted into all of them and a few with nice scholarships. HOWEVER… going to accept at UF and then out of state for medical school down the road. Need to save those dollars now. Thanks all.
