How does BU’s financial aid stack up compared to other schools? i.e. is it fairly generous/stingy or grant/loan based? do they do merit scholarships?

From what I hear, it is pretty generous compared to comparable schools such as GW or NYU.

I have seen some very generous grants and scholarships posted here, and I know of a few students personally that did quite well. ( one of whom had weaker stats than my daughter ,and no financial need )

My daughter didn't get offered anything, which was a surprise. It was the only school that offered nothing to her, however they required submission of a business and farm supplement ( never a good sign ) and after she got accepted , requested non-custodial forms.
Based on our previous experience with this from her sister's college, we opted out of considering BU for her college education.

It varies case by case and how they evaluate things is a mystery. I think they offer aid based in part on need and in part on how they rank you as a candidate and how they might perceive the chances of your going. I may be wrong.
