Airplane tickets

Hello,

I’m currently attending college in Los Angeles, and in December, I plan on going home to New York City. I’m trying to find the best bargain I can, but a lot of the offers I’ve seen are too expensive. Ideally, I want to buy a round trip ticket in the $300 - $350 range-- is this possible? I was checking out some discount ticket sites, and I saw some around that range, but considering the season, I assumed they meant PER ticket? At this point, though, would I have trouble finding tickets around the above mentioned range?

Check JetBlue from Burbank to JFK. Depending on the exact dates you want to travel, the lowest price for a one way ticket is around $134. For example, if you leave Dec. 17th and return Jan. 15th, you can get flights starting at $134 each way.

You will only find that price if you can fly JetBlue or Southwest. I just booked Boston to LAX round trip at a whopping $635. that included a red eye flight.
By the way, don’t fly on a Saturday or Sunday as that will be more expensive, (generally) and if there is a red eye it will probably be cheaper. Check Southwest and JetBlue, then check Expedia to get the best rate, compare all three. Monkey around with the dates a bit to see if fares change with different dates.

Check out kayak.com. My oldest (and most travel savvy) college child uses this site when searching for flights home. Just about all the airlines will show up somehow, including JetBlue and Southwest. For Southwest you will get a link to their site to search for particulars. You do not book at Kayak - you just search and can be directed on to the appropriated booking site. For the most part, the prices are pretty accurate.

Depending on your dates and airports, you might still have decent options. As noted, if you have a little flexibility with your timing, you may be able to capture a better rate so be sure to play around with the dates if possible. Airports too.
