I think you would be better off doing a double major in business and engineering. There’s not much flexibility with an Airport Management degree, whereas there is a lot with that double major. Or just one of them.

I sort of agree with with “JeremyS” – a dual engineering and business/management degree will take you much farther and give you more flexibility. I would also recommend pursuing an MBA pronto after your B.S. (Western Governors University has a nice affordable online program that can be pursued while on the job – as an example of just one option).

I speak from experience as a physicist & engineer with 25+ years of real project & management experience (and several degrees) – if you’re trying to climb the ladder &/or transition to higher paying management positions within “The System”, you’d better have your MBA no matter how much real-world experience & success you have. Then a bit down the road; if you’ve got the desire, energy, and resources, an MS in engineering or some other technical/scientific area can help dliver the “coup de grace”.

On a further note, in regards to airport management: A general business/management degree is better (coupled with a technical degree as mentioned above), then once you get into your introductory airport position, you become a member of the “American Association of Airport Executives” (AAAE) and go through their certification programs.
