Airport update

Just flew from our end of the line airport to big, busy Atlanta and back, and I thought you guys who are flying kids off this weekend might want an update.

Security was great, very little wait time, even in Atlanta. It seemed they had opened extra stations, and were trying to move people through as efficiently as possible.
You can take lipstick, Chapstick and solid deodorant in your carry-on now - I would recommend checking with the airport, airline or TSA website before you pack, because the situation seems fluid! (Puns are the lowest form of humor)

Unfortunately, the rest of the flying experience was miserable. We spent 45 solid minutes after landing in Atlanta before we were allowed to exit the plane. I got the feeling, confirmed by a couple of road warriors sitting next to me who were on their second and third trips since the arrests in britain, that the ground crews are overwhelmed by the volume of baggage. It is taking longer to handle the bags, and in this very busy travel season the whole system just starts getting clogged up, and backed up. Delays were blamed on weather, but especially yesterday, it really looked like the system was just overwhelmed.

Anyone else have any recent trips to share??

Just went from Denver to Seattle to Bellingham, then from Seattle to Ketchikan and back. The problems began while we were in Bellingham, but we got to SEA at 5:00am and had no problems with security at all. The filght, however, was delayed due to mechanical problems. And of course no wait in Ketchikan coming home.

Husband flew out of LaGuardia to Atlanta Sun., and said that things went very smoothly. He said that the airlines were recommending that passengers arrive 3 hours before their flights, but that was NOT necessary. I think he was there 2 hours beforehand.

I flew Tuesday from St. Louis to Midway- Chicago and then onto Philadelphia with no lines to speak of anywhere, including security. I had emptied all my lotions and potions into my checked bag and just carried on a book and my purse. I’ve never traveled so lightly! There was a long wait for the bags in Philadelphia but no one was ranting or raving and it was just a little longer then it usually takes. First time in quite awhile that my bag didn’t have a tsa sticker on it indicating that it had been inspected.
