Al Franken Accused

I don’t know. But it shows disrespect to women:

Louis CK never apologized.

Two more bite the dust:

Anti gay family values poster child Ohio state representative caught in a gay relationship http://www.newsweek.com/republican-family-values-state-legislator-quits-sex-man-713821 I don’t know why he resigned. It was consensual. It was tacky todo it in the office.

Leader of the Florida Democratic Party turns out to be creepy http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article185207928.html Really? Stress balls shaped like boobs? Staff women buddied up to not be alone with him.

Drain the sexual misconduct swamp.

I’m probably over simplifying things but to me a big difference between Al Franken and Roy Moore is that Al Franken was a comidien and posed for a stupid photo with an adult where Roy Moore has ran his whole career on ‘family values’ while degrading other families and people who were different from him. He used the bench to hurt other families and feels he is above the law. He is not taking any responsibility for his actions towards these minor girls.
I’m also sickened by the Alabama Governors response where she believes the women but is voting party over morality.

It’s also hypocrisy to portray oneself as being ‘pro-women’ or a ‘defender of the rights of women’ and then subject them to humilating photos and unwanted French kissing and groping. As with those who say they are for family values, actions speak louder than words.

He has also apologized, asked for forgiveness, asked for an ethics probe and has been forgiven by his accuser. Roy Moore is still ‘hiding in the bushes’.

And the president simply called them liars.

“Why is this woman supposed to put up with it?”

She’s not supposed to, and she didn’t put up with it. She told him with choice words that such a kiss was not to happen again, and according to her, it didn’t. She has now complained to his boss (MN voters) and colleagues (senators) about the event. That’s fine, too. They’ve heard her side, he had an opportunity to apologize and explain, she accepted the apology, and his boss and colleagues will decide what they want to do next. This all went as well, and as productively, as a public complaint ever could.

CNN article reporting a woman saying Senator Franken grabbed her butt during a photo op while he was Senator.

I just saw that too. I will get in touch again with his office. I sent an email on Friday.

Hmm… throwing her leg over Robin Williams and then patting his bum.

Bumpty bumping with a musician then he grabbed her bum and she grabbed his back.

Then kissing a random soldier on the mouth.

I don’t think any of these things are sexual harassment but I do find it somewhat hypocritical of her by calling out Franken after seeing these videos/photos.

So does “No” mean “No” anymore or has the definition changed again. I thought prior actions or previous consent is not meant to be an open invitation. I thought a person still had a right to have boundaries.

The difficulty with this situation is that they are putting on a show for adults and their is lots of sexual innuendo. For this performer, she would do the kiss for a skit but she didn’t want it to be a real kiss. That was a line she didn’t want to cross.

Here we are having this long discussion about consent for a kiss. No wonder it is difficult to determine consent for more intimate relations between people.

I think the lengthy discussion is less about consent and more around what are the appropriate repercussions for an individual who kisses someone who has begrudgingly consented and then allegedly takes further actions to make life difficult for that individual including posing for a mock-groping picture.

I doubt the random soldier was even asked before she kissed him, so I’m tossing all the Tweedon/Franken stuff in the bin. I don’t think her actions (from pics and video) are sexual harassment and so must conclude his actions weren’t either. All of this needs to be placed in its proper content - that of what is typically raunchy USO shows. It certainly doesn’t rise to that which Spacey, Louie C.K., Weinstein and Moore have done, IMO. I have more important things to be outraged over then Al Franken & Lee Ann Tweeden’s actions.

Has the second accuser ever appeared on the Hannity show? If she did then she will be vilified too.

Of course No means No, even in the context of a raunchy show and tour. But it’s a little disturbing to see her rub her behind on the guitarist, who clearly pushes her away, and then she spanks his butt. A crime? No. But his actions seemed clear to me and she could have mimed spanking his butt and the crowd wouldn’t have known the difference.

Situations like this are often complicated and the usual lines get blurred. Not that that’s any excuse, just reality.

Well, his career is fried.

I think if men are going to be held accountable for their actions women also need to be held accountable. If she was being lewd and aggressive than what’s to say she didn’t trespass a line?
We have annual harassment training at my school and it’s always couched in terms of gender neutral situations meaning anyone can be a predator. Men and women are all subject to the same standards. Having said that men are more likely to be offenders.

If the reports about hi-jinks in on the rest of the USO tour are true, it validates my belief that the BIG difference between Senator Al and would-be Senator Roy is that one event derives from a comedy/entertainment show and the other was [apparently] the pattern of a predator of young essentially defenseless women. Sure, Moore was free to romantically pursue any willing partner over the age of consent, no matter how uncomfortable I may be with that. But Moore’s conduct was no joke, romance or game-play. And as for Franken’s comedy, jokes fall flat or reveal themselves to be in poor taste all the time. Just two weeks ago Larry David got flamed by fellow Jews for his ‘concentration camp romance’ joke on SNL.
