Albany College of Pharmacy vs University of rochester

For Chemistry major, which one is better?

Thanks in advance!!

Does ACP offer chem majors? I thought it was all PharmD degrees.

Oh, sorry! I actually want to know the pre-med programs at these two schools!

U Rochester

ACP only offers majors in Pharm D :)

i know they also have programs for pre-med

acp has pre-law, physicians assistant and biomed too

ACP gives u the ability to go straight into med school without even writing your MCATS if you maintain a gpa of above 3.2 i believe (which is 88% or higher) You get guaranteed acceptance into Albany Med.

You can also go into Health Law at Albany law after you’re third year.

The great thing about this is that you dont have to move and start all over again, you’ll be on the same campus and you’ll have everything that you’ve just spent a few years building still available.

“ACP gives u the ability to go straight into med school without even writing your MCATS if you maintain a gpa of above 3.2”

wow, is that after completing the entire 6 year degree? So you would become an M.D in 12 years and also have a pharm.D after 6?

**So you would become an M.D in TEN years and also have a pharm.D after 6?

nono, its not after 10 years lol
i believe u go to med school after your 4th year.

you can check into that at www.acp.edu

It looks like Albany Med still has to accept you as an early applicant. I don’t immagine that everyone with a 3.4 or above is accepted, given the selectivity of med schools…but I guess it’s something to look into.

I know rochester also has a program with it’s med school REMS (I think it’s called), but you have to apply to it as an entering freshman.

I think Rochester would be better if you’re not interested in pharmacy. Student life is getting better at ACP, but it’s pretty small, very specialized… but I guess socially, there are a lot of other colleges in the immediate area (RPI, Sage, ect).

I think you should look into Union College as well. They have a combined medical school program (also have to apply when you apply to the college), also with Albany Med.

personally, i chose U of R over ACP. I was in the same boat…kinda weird i didnt know many other people knew about the ACP premed program.

Frankly, i just didnt trust the ACP program, and I figured, god-forbid something went awry in college…you’d be screwed cuz i mean, a degree from ACP wont really do much for you versus a degree from U of R in terms of putting you on that prestigious map
