<p>I didn’t know you were such a fashionista, Schmaltz. </p>
<p>But it is a sad story. He was very talented.</p>
<p>Donna, I heard it on the radio this morning. The fashion world lost such a talented designer!</p>
<p>My D (a third year in Fashion at Parsons) called me with the news. It was McQueen’s work that inspired her enough to make the transition from Mt Holyoke and a quiet liberal arts program, to pushing her own comfort zones and follow her passion. The first time I saw his work I just didn’t get it. Over the last 3 years I have become mesmerized by his work; in a good way. The details, the story, the head to toe ‘composition’ - no stone left unturned. I was lucky enough to see several of his pieces up close and in person last fall, and they are stunning. Visual treats. His fall show was ‘broadcast’ live on the web and my heart raced with the music (if you’re unfamiliar with his shows you can find them on you tube). I don’t know what could have provoked him to take his own life…I can only imagine it was really horrible. Our household is quite sad.</p>
