It seems that whenever I talk to people, they’re put off by my intelligence. I also can’t help but analyze the situation and I tend to make people uncomfortable because I say really intellectual things without meaning to. Does this happen to anyone else? It makes social interactions with most people hard for me, because I get anxiety about their reactions. Usually the only way to fix this issue is if I take some form of an opiate, which dumbs me down just enough so that I don’t intimidate or alienate others. Any advice would be great, and I’m not trying to brag about this, it really is a problem.

Oh well, according to people, I come out as very arrogant. Apparently, I am too logical and analytical. That does not go well with the females. I am usually like DGAF. People talk to me, I am not a loner. It is just that I really don’t care so much if I hurt someone’s feelings because chances are, what ever I say already went through several iterations in my head and the one that comes out of my mouth is the best way to say it. If people can’t stand you, just forget about them.

I’m sure that’s the problem.

If you are spewing off random facts then you will come across as an arrogant and annoying twat. They don’t dislike you because of your intelligence but because you show it off.

Speak softly and carry a big stick. Don’t start intellectual debates with people but be sure to finish them

well that’s easier said than done UK. Sometimes I unintentionally come off as a prick when I help my friends with math homework or w/e. I feel crappy about it, but it’s just our nature. People who have spent a great deal of time studying generally want to share that knowledge with everyone else.

Simply, if a person doesn’t like you or seems to be “put off,” f*** them and move on. Don’t dumb yourself down for anyone (including girls), and don’t take drugs to do just that. Not that I am promoting paraphernalia usage, but if it is going to be used, use it to enhance a moment, not escape a moment or anxiety.

Accept yourself and it’ll work out. Seriously. I know it sounds like a line from every self-help book, but its true.

Don’t care.

Are you perhaps confusing arrogance with intelligence? People aren’t put off by intelligence. They’re put off by the “I’m Smarter Than You” attitude. You don’t seem to have this issue judging by your post, but then again…we don’t know you in real life.

Yeah uh… I don’t think anyone goes: “That guy is smarter than me, **** him”

Its more like: “That guy is an arrogant prick and thinks he’s God’s gift to Earth, **** him”

LOLOLOL. I love the cockiness. “I think they’re put off by my intelligence.”

LOL. Gotta love CC.

Well there are people out there who don’t like talking to people who make them feel inadequate…so it is quite possible. Personally I just make people come to me lol.

^Which is not that effective of a strategy, particularly in college.

No it’s probably just your BO.

Try not to bond over smart people talk. Bake some fresh bread together, or gt a cat. People totally bond over cats.

The OP needs drugs, honest! Or else he’s just too smart for people to handle.

True story. You’re going the right way on opiates. Though I find myself positively antisocial on opiates. It’s a pretty selfish high. Ecstasy would get you wayyy friendlier, but in the absence of that I’d even try some benzos or (NOT and) booze. Even some other uppers might get you more social - amphetamines? Try not to be obnoxious though with all that confidence :P

Lol, OP… you have to be kidding me. It’s likely that no one is put off by your so called “intelligence” but by your social awkwardness and your ****ty mannerisms.

So your like the people in the Bing commercials?

^lol

Those people are annoying.

@roxsox… Dude, I’d only do atoms if going to Pacha or a festival or something or if I was hanging out in someone’s pool all day. You don’t need to be rolling face trying to have a conversation with someone.
