“Life Is Beautiful” with Roberto Benigni

“Terms of Endearment” (yes, the scene in the hospital with the children)
“Stepmom”
“Beaches”
“Dumbo”
(Are we noticing a pattern here?)

Speaking of “My Dog Skip”, S2 & I were both crying at the end of that one. At that age, he was a very sensitive kid.

My children yelled at me for ‘making them watch’ My Dog Skip. The tears, the sobs, oh my!

chocchip - 2 summers ago when S1 was preparing to leave for college - I knew I needed a good cry - rented Marley and Me and that did the trick! Also really enjoyed Love Actually - I can watch that one over and over again. Titanic gets me every time. I’ve heard great things about Toy Story 3 - need to see that one.

Schindler’s List is on my list of all-time most difficult movies to watch, along with Sophie’s Choice, but the scene where Schindler breaks down is stunning and then seeing the real people and their children pay their respects at his grave – it’s pretty hard not to cry.

Ordinary People.

Love Leads the Way (from Disney but not really a kids movie)

The story of Buddy the first American dog guide. Starring Susan Dey and Tim Bottoms. The trials of newly blind athlete and beautiful German Shepherd Dog, fighting for acceptance of guide dogs all the way to Congress.
I love this movie. Two tearjerker scenes and the dog doesn’t even die.

I’m sure I’ll think of more, but here is one I haven’t seen yet. (Maybe I am just really strange.) In The Sixth Sense … the scene in the car, where Cole shares his secret with his mom…oh…I sob EVERY TIME.

And, the end of Dances with Wolves where Wind in His Hair (is that his name??) is shouting from the hilltop…sigh…

Okay, now I’m really going to show you my true colors and you’ll see how old & rickety I am!

Now that the corner Blockbusters are gone, how does one rent a movie these days? (Told you I was old!) Netflix? Any other choices?

I hate going to the movie theaters since I usually end up falling asleep. Last time I went to see a movie was with S2 and we saw Avatar, and that was at least a year ago! I would much rather rent them, but haven’t done that lately either.

Some of these movies sound great, but it does help to have a small summary of the movie for anyone that wants to rent it!
-what is Marley & me about?
-what is My Dog Skip about
-what about Life is Beautiful? Or The Notebook?

Which mom said they had 5 D’s? Goodness help you! I come from a family of 4 girls. Yeow!

Anyone else like Ghost, or just me?!

Amazon has streaming movies too, free if you are amazon prime…

I HATE tearjerkers! I get so MAD at them for sneaking up on me during my time off, and making me cry! I get especially angry at young people doing dumb stuff like in Titanic, Romeo and Juliet, and West Side story.

My mother LOVED imitation of life, and the one with the similar story line?..what was that one?

Pinky
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinky_(film)
Same director as Splendor in the Grass and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn!

I was nicknamed Pinky my first year at sleep away camp and my mother went BALLISTIC!

chocchipcookie, plug the name of the movie into IMDb:
[The Internet Movie Database (IMDb)](http://www.imdb.com/)
and you will get reviews and summaries.

Yes, Netflix is the way to go. DH and I have been members since April 2001, and love it!

Bambi, The Lion King

Love actually! How could I forget that movie?!

Sent from my iPhone using CC

An alternative to Netflix is if your cable provider has movies on demand - although the selection will vary. I miss the Blockbuster days.

Marley & Me starts Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. It basically follows their lives as a young couple - starting a family - career ups and downs, etc. - all while also having this very funny, mischievous dog named Marley. It is based on a true story - it was a book first.

The Notebook is also based on a novel. It shows a young couple in love - facing various challenges and obstacles - then later in life - the wife has Alzheimers - very sad story.

Life is Beautiful is so sad, so funny, so wonderful – it is heartbreakingly human. I think that one wins the prize for me.

Spirited Away!

Netflix streaming is the way to go, $7.99/mo. and you get instant access to 20,000 movies and TV shows without leaving the couch.

Netflix streaming? Huh?
Amazon streaming? How do they work?

What is amazon prime? S1 has used Amazon several times under my chargecard, so I know I have an account with them…is amazon prime that you have to spend a certain amount of money?
