<p>My kids have a Wii and ps2 in our basement, but it looks like we need something upstairs in our family room ie; the roku in order to watch the movies.</p>

<p>I got Amazon prime for the free two day shipping. It costs about $79/year, then apparently steaming video is free. I didn’t even know about the video streaming until recently…lots of… bawdy stuff on the first page… </p>

<p>I have been getting netflix for 10 years or more, but not haivng to wait for DVD’s changed everything, and it REALLY is amazing on an Ipad, having that kind of access at your fingertips.</p>
<p>At least three of us use the same account. My D lives 3000 miles away and watches on her laptop, my son SEEM’S 3000 miles away, and watches on his xbox.</p>

The movies are streamed , vs downloaded, and the quality is excellent. You watch them on your computer, or on TV with right devices. (I don’t have those so I can’t help with that)

<p>When Netflix didn’t have a movie I wanted, I watched it via Amazon.com - streaming movie. Another great thing- for $2.99 had rights to view it for a Week.
Also, saw Inside Job (Matt Damon’s movie about the financial crisis) for 99 cents.</p>
<p>Re streaming, I have Netflix and Amazon Prime and no streaming on my TV, although I can see Netflix film on my computer. This is because, from what DH says, our TV is too ancient for this. Isn’t there supposed to be some feature on a television that you need to stream directly to the TV? We have a DVR hooked up to the TV – is it possible to stream through that?</p>
<p>I use rottentomatoes for movie summaries and ratings by critics and just normal people. I find it useful for “just released” movies that may not be ranked elsewhere yet.</p>

<p>Family went when my youngest son was 12. He adores dogs. When he realized that the dogs were going to be left behind, he got up and left the theater. When we met up with him outside after it ended he was furious with wife and I for taking him. To this day he has not seen the movie.</p>

Let’s see, the final scene in “Somewhere in Time” always gets me…plus the scene in Chariots of Fire when Eric Liddell is preaching from the book of Isaiah while the Olympic race that he refused to participate in (since it was on a Sunday) was being run. Oh yeah, and “The Natural”, can’t forget that…</p>

We have a little box called a Roku which lets me stream pretty much anything from anywhere (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, YouTube) to my TV. It has HDMI and composite video out so it works with almost any TV, old or new.</p>
<p>I don’t really cry at movies, but one scene that does get to me is at the end of Return of the King, when the hobbits bow to the newly-crowned Aragorn, and Aragorn says “My friends! You bow to no one”, and he and everybody else bow to the hobbits. I know, dorky, what can I say.</p>

<p>Don’t know if it’s been mentioned yet, but “Field of Dreams” always causes me to well up. If you’re a guy and ever “played catch” with your Dad (or perhaps never had the opportunity to), you’ll understand why.</p>
<p>Shadowlands. If you haven’t seen it, and you want to see both great acting by Anthony Hopkins, and an incredibly romantic story, based on the life of C S Lewis, try it.</p>
