Almost 2 years of College, I still don't like where I am studying

I go to SFSU as a Civil Engineering major. The first year of college hit me pretty hard I got homesickness, I was diagnosed with an stress/anxiety disorder and many personal stuff happened (emotional, and psychological). After the first year of college, I brought my car and I was having a better time touring around NorCal with my few friends and going out. This semester I realized I just don’t like the school since I think I am not a city guy and I miss the idea of being close to my friends from my hometown and family. I got pretty isolated from all the people from my hometown cause I’m putting all my effort in getting good grades (which is actually true expect for Physics, pretty hard class) and surviving essentially. I always wanted to go to Cal Poly SLO or SDSU since it’s close to my hometown like 3 hour driving or something. Don’t get me wrong I like the city and the people from San Francisco, but I just prefer living close to my family and hometown friends. Do you guys think I should transfer to SDSU or Cal Poly SLO? If yes, I think I need to go to CC first since I already passed the deadline to transfer students for this coming fall, right?

You’ll need to transfer as a JR - 60 or more semester units. SLO and SDSU are both VERY competitive for transfer applicants. You’ll probably need a 3.5+ to pull it off. San Marcos, Fullerton and Pomona are still competitive but, less demanding.
What’s your GPA now?

@NCalRent Right now I got 3.37 and I have taken 46 Units. I’m taking 14 units this semester so by the end of this semester I should have 60 units taken.

That’s a solid GPA - you’ll certainly have options. Timing is your problem. Applications were due in November and decisions are going out now for next Aug. A handful of CSU campuses consider Spring transfers - Channel Island and Bakersfield - .

Not sure how appealing they are. Waiting until Fall 17 opens lots of doors but, will probably delay your graduation. It may make the most sense to load up at SF State and try to graduate a semester early.

Good luck.

@NCalRent You mean Fall 16, right? But yeah, I guess I’ll do my best work it out here SFSU. Thanks for your time and tips.
Have a good one and take it easy.

Sorry, 16 - yes.

What about studying abroad instead?

Great idea @siliconvalleymom ! A semester or year abroad will give you a change of scenery and maintain your graduation schedule.
