When you’re really “feeling old” is when you know every word to every song! I surprise myself sometimes!
Have fun!

Peter Noone played twice locally by me yesterday - maybe I should have gone. It says he’s sold 56 million albums. That’s a ton. And does 200 concerts a year. His pic in this bio - does he really look like this or it was an old pic?
I believe that picture is at least or close to 10 years old since I saw it online in an article from 2018. There are YouTube videos of recent performances and he definitely looks older, but still pretty good. He’s only 78, so younger than many of the artists of that era. He was only 15 when he joined the group and 16 when they had their first #1.

Got tix to see Roger Daltrey at the Ryman Wed. They went on 2-4-1 so like $80 19 rows from the stage.
It’s funny, Bruno Mars - can’t name a song - sells out Met Life 4 days and nosebleed seats are hundreds.
One of the great rockets of all time can’t fill the 2300 person Ryman, to the point they halve the ticket price.
On Friday, a young co worker put out an email and started it with Happy Bey - Day. I was like huh - pay day? Not Bay as it turns out but Bee. Beyoncé’s bday. Boy - I’m old.
Pumped for Daltrey and the next weeek going solo to Winwood/Fogerty in Charlotte. Gonna be a fun month.
It’s much cheaper to love the older music !!
ppl retire after their voices go like elton john and peter cetera. daryl hall should be next. daltrey too. boz scaggs can still sing. also philip oakey of human league.
Will see. The reviews on Daltrey are that he’s still strong.
People still enjoy them. They don’t neee money. Gives them a high. Will give me a high. I’m good.
I saw Roger Daltry a year ago. His voice was great. Enjoy!
We saw Steely Dan and Winwood in 2016. I love “the Dan” and wanted to see them for years but Fagin’s voice was definitely going even then. ( Becker passed sway the following year).
But Winwood still sounded great!
Saw Boz Scaggs years ago at Wolf Trap years ago and would love to see him again.
maybe his voice improved but the 2010 super bowl halftime show by the who wasn’t particularly entertaining. he was obviously straining his vocal chords.
saw daryl hall in 2024 pushing his new album. neither he nor the tunes sounded good. boz scaggs otoh could still hit the high notes at 81 last year. human league this past june was fun.
this week we get to see one republic at the hollywood bowl
. wife wanted to catch miley cyrus there next month but we’ll be in greece instead ![]()
He doesn’t do some of the things he used to, e.g. the famous Baba O’Reilly scream. He has the audience do it.
I go not only for the music, but to see these legends one more time before they are gone.
Play Baba O’Reilly and I’m good. That’s the highlight of my night.
I have JustADaughter and JustADad queuing up for the pre-sale Tuesday (as I’ll be in Italy!). JustADaughter and I are big Miley fans! If you haven’t already, I highly recommend David Letterman’s My Next Guest with Miley - it’s a lovely look into who she is as a young adult, having sown her wild oats.
I posted very far upthread about my band opening for a national act, and this weekend we opened for the '90’s band Tonic, and they sounded great. Most people know them for their song “If You Could only See”, and the rest of their set was super impressive as well.
We had very limited interaction with the band, but they seemed like nice guys, and I was definitely blown away by and fawning over the bassist’s collection of instruments on stage. Definitely a bucket list moment to have been on the same stage as Tonic!
Saw Jon Batiste at the Hollywood Bowl Sunday. The guy is pure magic. Actual magic!
Tonight I’m heading out to see Bruno Mars - I just want to be in the room! He’s a true entertainer/performer!
Not a exactly a concert, but I went with a friend to hear David Sedaris last night (book tour for his new book). His presentation was held at small theater and there were probably 200 people there.
He’s quite a personality and extremely smart and funny. Also, he often invites authors/writers (both published and unpublished) to read from their work before he reads. Last night he invited a young woman who he had met at another reading. She did a great job. I needed a good laugh and Sedaris fit the bill. I just ordered his new book from my local, independent book store!!
My wife and I just saw Josh Johnson Friday night. I’d never heard of him. Apparently he has 3 million social media followers. He’s on the Daily Show.
He spoke 90 minutes or two hours - he’s a comedian but no jokes, more stories. No cursing. No race jokes. Heck, his two political jokes weren’t political. One was talking about Trump TV and the other (I didn’t see the video) was about when Trump and Xi had planes fly overhead - Trump flinched, Xi didn’t.
I admit, I didn’t really find him funny but the audience did. But what a fantastic human being. There was a medical emergency. Someone yelled out. He stopped his set. Called for nurses, doctors, and medics to go to where it was (where were in the balcony and it was below us so I couldn’t see). Even told them to turn on the house lights which blinded him.
The next day (same venue) - the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville - apparently a special needs 26 year old was doing raspberries - and he called it out. The parent said after identifying their child was special needs that means they’re laughing. So he said - then I’ll know in 5 minutes if i’m killing it or not - and went up after the show to say hello to the 26 year old.
There’s video on facebook or elsewhere.
What a classy, empahtetic guy.
Those of you who know of him are probably aware.
Next up - the Doobies - October 11th - I’m pumped.
Josh Johnson is underrated - Check out his interview with Michelle Obama and her brother Craig - from their podcast https://youtu.be/9pZvfv9KJR0?is=9nVdYypgRBd1i_Vx
We had a long but really wonderful day at the Tom Morello organized Power to the People Festival Saturday. I was very lucky to get tickets during the presale. So much great music! Bruce, Baez, Foo Fighters, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill - the list goes on and on. A great event. Lots of great clips on YouTube and Instagram.
@sabaray you had me at Bruce!
