Aloe Vera Juice?

Good friend of mine told me the success of drinking aloe vera juice for her acid reflux condition. She swears by it, said she has no more heartburn/acid reflux after a few months of drinking it.

Anyone on CC familiar with it or currently drinking it? For what I have read, it has a host of other benefits. What’s your experience?

There’s research indicating that some aloe products, when taken orally, may cause cancer, at least in experimental animals. But I don’t know which products. It may depend on whether the product contains or doesn’t contain aloin.

My brother likes this beverage so I bought him 12 small bottles which I will wrap for his holiday gift (he’s someone who has too much “stuff” so we want to give him a consumable he will finish). I’ve tried it and it’s ok—a bit unusual in texture. I prefer it well-chilled.

@Marian, thanks for the link. Does not seem product specific. Manufacturers are not required to label aloin concentration in Aloe Vera products, well, it is a tough decision. Based on what I read from reviews, most people seem to benefit from the juice, especially those with GERD problem.

Sam’s Club and Costco carry small 12-pack cases of the small bottles at reasonable prices.
