So for the past few weeks I have been struggling with Stanford over some school forms (SSR and Transcripts). Originally, they were sent in early December through Naviance. We have resent them multiple times together, but Axess still said they are missing. After waiting a few days (around Jan 17th-ish) allowing for processing time, the Transcripts got through but the SSR didn’t. This is weird because the other Stanford applicant from my school got his materials processed very quickly. As of now, my file is complete except for the SSR, but I am just remarkably frustrated, because Stanford is my top choice and logistics are preventing my application from being complete.

I know they say you can fax things to the admissions office on/after February 10th, but does the fact that my file isn’t yet complete this late in the process severely diminish my chances?

Look, you are not entirely discounted, but they obviously take into heavy consideration the fact that they have had to struggle with you. Have you bit the dust? Not yet. You’re close though.

I don’t understand how they could get some forms but not others if you sent them together, but I am not sure what Naviance and Axess are. Ask the other Stanford applicant from your school how he/she got their forms sent so easily and do the same thing. It really should not be so difficult to submit forms to an admissions office. Are you really sure that this is where you want to go? They seem really difficult to work with. Can’t you just FedEx the forms? They are pretty reliable.

So axess is Stanford’s application tracking system, and naviance is a way to submit recs etc online.

The other applicant and I both sent everything on naviance and then additionally mailed a copy via FedEx. For some reason, his got through and mine didn’t.

I’ll resend them Monday with FedEx again, and if that doesn’t work I’ll fax them on the tenth.

Instead of looking at how easy it was for the other applicant, imagine the perseverence and determination you are using, to not give up. No matter what happens, you are learning a valuable skill in detail work. It does seem unfortunate that you have had to jump through all these unnecessary hoops, but perseverence is one of the best skills you can have as a person for the rest of your life. I hope they take you, if they only choose one from your school, because you really want to be there. Whatever the outcome, you will persevere and make your way in the world. I can tell you are that type of person. Good luck to you!

No it won’t affect your chances at all. There’s a reason why you have until February 10th to turn in all your material; they know things don’t go smoothly for everyone through no fault of their own. The only way you’ll affect your chances is if you send something so late that they have to evaluate an incomplete application.
