I have a 21000 EFC. This is pretty unfair and I plan on appealing. How do I appeal this?

In addition, despite my EFC, I got a stellar FinAid Package from USC. Essentially, half of it is paid for, but I still will need about 20 K a year.

I want to major in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/ Neuroscience and tie it in with Econ/Business.

How respected is USC in sciences/engineering?
I hope to pursue med school, how well do they do at getting people into UCLA, UC-SanFransisco, etc.

In addition, is it worth it?

I really love New York, and I’ve been an East Coaster my entire life, is LA that much different than NY?

Is there a big Indian (Asian Indian) community at USC? That’s kind of important for me.

Thank You in advance for your help. Many of your responses have been very useful in other posts.

there is a HUGE indian population at USC…little india is only about 40 mins away too…

And honestly, the only difference between LA and NY is the fact that LA is quite disconnected and hard to get arround. Otherwise, personally, I don’t see that big of a difference.

USC is very good in engineering…dunno about med school, though, someone else will have to cover that question.

Like elanorrigby said above there is a giant indian population at USC. There’s a sizable minority of indian undergrads, and in engineering (undergrad/grad) there are a lot. It seems the undergrads are usually us-born indian and the grad students tend to be from india themselves.

Isn’t your EFC determined by the government? I don’t think it’s up to USC to determine that amount.

It is definitely worth it. Whether you get into those schools depends on you more than anything else, but USC students as a whole have been very successful at getting into wherever they want to go.
