Alternate program - pick major in same college?

S25 is completing his CSU application. He’s applying to SDSU for Business- Finance and at Cal Poly SLO for Business Administration. When picking an alternate program, does it make sense to pick a different major within the business school or instead pick something outside of the B school? I’m assuming they don’t even look at the 2nd major but since we have to pick one, I want to be strategic. He could do Econ at SDSU (not in the B school) and stats or something at SLO. However, he is most interested in being in a B School. These are his only CA applications, the rest are OOS.

What other majors would be those that he likes enough to attend those schools?

SDSU does not consider alternate majors during the admission process and SLO only occasionally admits into the alternate major so he should select the major he would prefer since it will have little impact in the final decision.
