Digging in with the budget last night and while it isn’t a huge amount, it is an amount that angers me. We pay $129 + tax for Uverse 300 and we use very little of what we have. H’s guilty pleasure is sports and he is a big pro-football and baseball game watcher. I watch very little tv…HGTV, the news, etc. D uses mostly Netflix and AppleTv for the shows she wants to watch.
We have SO many channels we NEVER watch.
We looked at Sling TV last night. Anyone use this? Feel free to chime in if you have found an alternative to cable that also has a good sports selection.
Does that cost include internet and/or phone too? You’ll have to figure out what you’d pay for internet if you cut the cord and see what the difference is to get the real TV price. That’s about what we pay for TV/internet/phone from TWC. I’ve looked into cutting the cord, but sports is the hardest to fulfill - by the time you add the cost of a bunch of streaming packages to get the sports channels you already have it will cost at least as much (at least in our case). Does Uverse have an app that runs on a Roku box or something similar? You could cut the monthly cost of a cable box using one of those if they do.
You must have a bunch of set top boxes and some premium channels. Can you cut back on some of those? Another idea is to call customer service and tell them you’re planning to cut service and see if they’ll lower your rate. I’ve gotten accustomed to having to do that every year or two to play their game.
Can you get local channels with a cheap HD antenna? If you can do that and get Sling, you’re mostly set.
