Altoona Housing

I have two questions:

1.) If I don’t have a housing contract for the dorms because they are full, but someone who doesn’t have a roomate yet and wants to room with me does, would I be able to be with them or do they need to find someone who has one also?

2.) If not, how is the off campus housing (Nittany Pointe) and how does it work? Is it good?

@jlhpsu If you have any information, can you help?

The housing contract will go off of the date the first person got their contract. So, if you wanted to live with someone who already has a contract, you should call Altoona housing office and explain your situation. They may allow you to get a housing contract in that case. They may make the person with a contract live with someone who already has a contract since they only have so many rooms, but they are usually pretty accommodating so I would call and ask. Are you on the waiting list for housing? They said they move through that waiting list pretty fast.

Nittany Pointe is the housing complex on the hill above campus. It is all students. They have shuttles that run back and forth between the campus and the complex, and you can also get a parking pass to drive down. Nittany Pointe will match you with roommates. There are also a few complexes, though I’m not sure which ones, that will allow you to sign a lease while you are on the waiting list and will tear up your lease if you get off the waiting list for housing. The housing office also has a list of those complexes. So I think the best bet would be to call the housing office.

Nittany Pointe is a big party area, but so are most of the off campus complexes.

Okay, and do you know how people usually pay for the $650 a month rent? It sounds a little expensive
