Aluminum Siding

I am working on an addition to a house in the San Francisco area that calls for matching the old aluminum siding with the new. I have been looking to find local suppliers or contractors, however, it seems that aluminum siding is out of style around here. I found some suppliers in other states. Have you bought any of those recently and what brand do you recommend and which supplier you have used. If you have supply sources in CA, I’d like to know.

The major brands for Aluminum sidings are: Mastic, Revere, Rollex and Royal Building Products.

Aluminum siding is out of date pretty much everywhere, first being phased out in favor of vinyl but now that’s generally obsolete too. Could you use a contrasting material?

My neighbor here in the Midwest just rebuilt a porch. She could not find siding to match her aluminum, so is having the whole house redone in vinyl. Good luck finding something.

Al prices went soaring lately. Would residing the entire place in vinyl be comparable to doing aluminum on the new addition?

Don’t know yet, working on the price now.

And everyone. It seems that take out the aluminum siding and put on Vinyl for the whole house is cheaper than just trying to match the aluminum siding for the addition.

I found a local aluminum siding supplier, they do not have the matching siding, but the cost alone is prohibitive. They charge $30(incl tax) per 12’x8" (or 8sqft coverage) piece that is about 2.5x as much as the vinyl siding, never mind the other accessories. In addition that does not match, the supplier only have white, so, painting of the whole hose afterwards is another cost. Whereas if I do it with Vinyl, when I finish, it is done, no painting.

Furthermore, I found that I can order the aluminum siding material from Manard’s at close to the vinyl cost( within 30c per sqft), but it requires to ship the material cross the country. We still have to deal with not matching and whole house paint.

Stucco is another alternative, cost higher, but stronger. I have to change the plan with city and change fees also will apply.
