Alumni Interview for EA

I recently scheduled an alumni interview during June. I am applying EA for the class of 2016 :). This is going to be my first interview and I’m getting extremely nervous; Chicago is my dream school. So can any Chicago students lend me some advice? Should I bring a resume with activities and transcript? Should I have my prepared questions written down? What should I expect? I’ve been browsing past threads on this topic and didn’t find anything too helpful. If you have any tips, that would be great! Thank you

I was accepted EA for the class 2015, and I think a big reason for my acceptance was my interview. Just be very relaxed. You don’t need to bring a resume or anything like that. If you have questions that you want to ask, have them ready. If not, try to think of some. Other than that, just relax and be yourself!

Mine’s in June, too. Thanks for the adive daudette1. Even though it was directed towards me :)

I was also accepted EA for class of 2015 and had many interviews for many schools, all of which went extremely well. The key is to have a conversation. Have a resume but don’t bring it out. Have some questions prepared. Definitely learn as much as you can about the school before the interview. But again, think of this as a conversation. Be yourself, have a nice back-and-forth conversation about life and college, and you’ll do fine.

I am an alumni interviewer here in Mississippi, and honestly you shouldn’t be too worried. The dirty little secret about interviews is that they are more for keeping alums engaged than they are about the applicants. Still, be sensible and engaging and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

Bring a resume and be prepared to talk intelligently–about what, you can’t predict.
