My mother had to drop out of high school to have me, then married my step dad when I was 12, who completed community college. Would I not be considered first gen because of my step dad even though both my biological parents did not complete college? Thanks!
My understanding of ‘first generation’ is that neither of the parents who raised you has a 4-year college degree.
