I’m asian :p, middle/high income

Good Chance. maybe a bit lower cause of asian status. lol join the club… But they are all reaches… No one will ever know what type of people get in. Try Columbia and UPenn.

Are Columbia and UPenn easier to get into?? Also, which ivys are worth applying early to??

If you really really want to go to an Ivy, Try Cornell…

Are you saying that I don’t have a chance at HYP? :’(

HYP: High High Reach
Columbia: High Reach
Brown, Dartmouth, Penn: Reach
Cornell: Decent chances

Asian with typical EC and typical numbers

Good chances at Vanderbilt and LACs such as Middlebury, Carleton… (Not Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore)

“Are you saying that I don’t have a chance at HYP?”

Extremely low chance (less than 2-3%)

^I agree. There’s not a lot that differentiates you from the pack of Ivy applicants. You have all of the numbers and ECs that are basically check-off items for admissions officers. Now, you need something to make yourself unique.

Ok, so if HYP is basically off limits, what about Northwestern? And does anyone have any advice about good early decision/action choices. Should I apply early to a reach school or to an attainable school?

And one more thing…
I recovered from an eating disorder. Is that unique? should I write my essay about it? I know its risky but it’ll make me stand out :p

Apply early to a reach school.

NW: Decent chances

Possible EA: Chicago (Reach), MIT (Reach), Cal Tech (Reach), GTown (Solid Chances)

SCEA: Harvard (High Reach), Yale (High Reach), Princeton (High Reach), Stanford (High Reach)

ED: Penn (Low Reach), Dartmouth (Decent chances), Brown (Low Reach), Columbia (Reach), Duke (Decent Chances), Rice (Good Chances), JHU (Solid Chances)

Yes you’re a hopeless case. (sarcasm) Seriously? Why are you whining? Your stats are great.

" Your stats are great."

There are many many Asians with 2300+ 35+ and 3.95+.

Tough love- As long as your self worth is tied into some need for perfection (cultural?), then frankly, yes, you are a helpless case.

Is this a joke?

OP

Do your best with your essays.
You will get into some great colleges.

Does anyone here have any experience with eating disorders and ivy league college essays?

Bumpbumpbumpbumpbumpbump >:)

You never know what may happen. While you are Asian and there’s nothing that particularly stands out in your ECs, you never know. It’s hard to predict, and you may have a chance. It’s a crap shoot at the Ivies. But remember, there are plenty of other schools that are great!

About the whole Asian thing, what qualifies as truly asian? I have a US citizenship so would that make me korean american? Or would I just be 100% asian because my parents are asian…
