In the common app “what do you identify yourself as” race section, can I put down both asian and pacific islander? I’m a new zealander, a citizen, having lived here since 5 yrs old and I identify as a NZer but was born in china. NZ is legally a pacific island also, and there is no ‘oceania’ box…so will this be ok? I’m not trying to con anyone, (my last name is asian) I just genuinely feel this way. thanks!!
Pacific islander is not a geographic or citizenship category. It is a racial one. If u are ethnically Chinese, then it doesn’t matter where u live u are Asian.
