Here's my list of colleges. Narrowing down eventually.

Northwestern [Applying ED]
USC
Vanderbilt
Notre Dame
Boston College
Wash U in St. Louis
Pepperdine
Loyola [BACKUP]
U of Chicago [doubt I can get in but mom wants me to try]
U of I [mom is making me and unless I got rejected from all the above, won't go]

I don’t particularly know the admissions standards of those places, but I can say as a general statement that’s there really no such thing as aiming too high assuming you have backups that you know you can get in to. Because you can’t get into a university if you don’t apply right?

Sounds reasonable as long as your EC’s are good and your ACT improves by 2-4 points.

U are no aiming too high this is goo already… But do sone extracurricularsvif ur not alreay

I see no reason for not aiming high as long as you have put the time and work in picking safety schools that fit your needs as well.

I don’t know what your extracurriculars are, but I don’t think you’re aiming too high.

Like others have said, there’s no such thing as aiming too high as long as you have enough safety schools. I, for one, am applying to a bunch of really selective colleges, each with its pros and cons, and hoping at least one of them will love me back xD

You know what they say. You should always aim for the moon, because the worst that can happen if you miss is that you land on a star.

False. The moon is closer to the Earth than any star.

Exactly. That is why when you miss the moon, you keep drifting on until you hit a star.

I just really like this expression though, because I think it proves a good point. Don’t hate :)

I think you’d die before you reach a star though.

that expression was on the wall in my 6th/7th/8th grade science classroom

someone posted on here once, the best way to pick a safety school is to look at your dream school…then find a school that’s exactly like it and just as good in every way except for the admission standards (and, probably by extension the academics)

@cptofthehouse

Damn you have a lot of posts! Do you know if you have the most on the site? I was wondering who did. Ha ha.

And I think the quote is “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

i know entomom has a lot too

LOL You guys are too funny.(:

Well, I knew the expression was something to that effect.

close is only good enough in horseshoes and college admissions!!! no wait…

^ and hand grenades.
