If you’d like to participate in a research project, there may be ways to to that as a non-student; you could volunteer to serve as an intern for example. If you’re asking if a school where you’re not a student or employee would allow you to use their facilities to conduct research of your own, it’s unlikely but you could ask the school itself. Depending on the school and what you need, they might allow you to use space or to rent facilities.
