am i automatically smart if i get an engineering degree?

does getting an engineering degree automatically make one smart?

It’s a good indicator of having a 115+ IQ. Which, to most, means that one is probably smart. However, it’s probably not a good indicator above that point.

what exactly does it mean to have 115+ IQ? sorry… i don’t have an engineering degree yet…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iq

lol ok…

…

Having a 115+ IQ means that you are fairly smarter than the average american. Average usually lies somewhere near 100.

Can’t believe I just had to explain that lol.

well, if you graduate with a 2.0 and an E degree, I doubt you learned much. I would say that if you graduate with a 3.0 or above, then yes, you’re pretty smart =P doctors and lawyers are about the only degrees that could seriously compare, but they’re grad school degrees, so yes, feel smart =P

hahaha true

If you have an engineering degree, people are going to assume that you know how to think and solve problems. I am a performance engineer for a power plant and whenever a manager comes to me with a problem, I am expected to be able to find a solution. I don’t have to know the answer right away but it’s all about knowing what steps to take in order to get the solution.

No. You will remain stupid.

A degree will never convey define how intelligent you are–it is what you do with it that counts.

^ but is it not hard to get an engineering degree?

HAH yeah son, its easy as pie. Thats why 1/3 of beginning students in engineering drop out by the end of their first year. Thats why the average GPA is around a 3.0 at most schools. Thats why it takes 5 years in some programs to reach a BS. Thats why you study dynamics and thermal controls and circuitry.
Nah, its not hard
