“Diversity of thought” was a decision-factor in D24’s hunt for a college to attend. D24’s definition of “diversity of thought” was “not overly political and people there are open to a free exchange of different ideas so we can learn from each other, so we can respectfully disagree without shouting at each other and calling people names just because they think differently than you.”
So, for example, if Smith College leans on the Reed College end of the spectrum, then the answer to your question is no. You’re not being narrow minded.
However, that whole question is sort of moot and not applicable if Smith College is not affordable to attend in the first place…in which case, it doesn’t matter what the college’s political leanings are…if it’s not affordable, then it doesn’t make sense to even consider it.
