Am I Cooked? [MD resident, 3.1 UW, 1490 SAT, MechE/AutoE]

Not NC State. We know in state kids with 36 ACT and similar gpas deferred for engineering. The uw GPA is going to be an issue, and I really don’t get how your weighted is that high. A B would weight as a 4, and you must have had a decent number of Bs (or Cs?) for your weighted to be that low.

Speaking of URI - @CookedApplicant, what foreign language have you studied, and are you interested in further language study and time abroad? I know of several alumni of URI’s International Engineering Program who have gotten amazing internships followed by career-track positions in the German auto industry.

That could be great - you have VW in Chattanooga, Mercedes near Tuscaloosa, BMW in Spartanburg. VW is also opening a Scout (new EV brand) plant by Columbia.

That could lead to a long term career.

You also have other European (non German) with Volvo in South Carolina.

And then there are Asian manufacturers here - from Subaru in Indiana, to Toyota all over, Nissan, Honda, Hyundia, Kia and I’m likely missing some.

Then you have upstarts like VINFAST that are “allegedly” coming to the Carolinas and Ineos, which makes the super cool Grenadier SUV, is talking about building here. Unlike most newbies, they are in good shape.

So that sounds like a super cool program!!

Auburn also has a research facility in Huntsville - lots of opps all over southeast for engineering, if that’s where you want to stay. My son’s roommates went to Boston, San Francisco, and Texas - none of them previously lived there.
