Am I crazy for doing this?

I have just registered for three SAT Subject Tests (Biology E/M, Literature and U.S. History.). Basically, I studied basic biology in school…but I did not AP Biology. However, I do have a good amount of knowledge regarding evolution, heredity and all the ecological stuff due to side interests. I have Barron’s for Bio and U.S. History (which I have no experience in besides self-studying. But thus far, I have been answering 99% of the U.S. History practice questions correctly. It is very fascinating.). Do I have enough time to prepare myself for 800s? Or at least 700+s. Or is it a reach? Not too worried about Literature, because I have taken several literature courses. And how many times should I read the prep books? Thought of reading AMSCO once as well. And how many hours should I dedicate to this endeavour?

*did not do AP Biology. Oops.

Back in the day when we didn’t know that SATs were supposed to be stressful, we routinely signed up to take three at the same time, since we were paying the registration fee anyway.

Don’t read any book the same way more than once. After reading through a book, a second pass should only be for specific reasons, such as reviewing information relevant to a study question you missed, creating an outline or flash cards, etc. Studying something the same way over and over again is not as productive as studying it in different ways.

Despite what others say, these are low-stakes tests, so you’re not crazy for taking a shot at them. 700+ is what you need – 800 is not necessary.

Thanks, Bigls. I really needed the motivation. :)
