<p>to Hope College (Holland, MI)? Is it ridiculous to go from such a prestigious school to Hope?</p>
<p>The reason I ask is, I’ve already dropped out of Umich twice. It’s not a school issue, just medical (physical and psychological) and a very screwed up life and a messy past with drugs (no longer an issue), etc.</p>
<p>I really don’t think I should go back to UofM a third time. I’m not happy there at all and I just want to go to a smaller school and start over. I love Hope and I think it;s everything I want in a college. Plus I’m majoring in chemistry and they’re known for their chem department. Is this a mistake?</p>
<p>No you aren’t crazy to transfer to Hope College. Obviously you and University of Michigan are not a good fit. I’ve heard of Hope College and it’s a well respected school.</p>
<p>Most important - you love it! I happen to think that the fit is as important as a high profile reputation. You are probably not meant to go to a large state university. </p>
<p>I think you will thrive at Hope! Learn where you love!

<p>Myro - my heart goes out to you. You are climbing a difficult mountain and it is going to take grit and determination, but you can do it. You are obviously highly intelligent, but this situaiton is kind of like a romantic situation - figuring out when to break up. You tried UM twice. It didn’t work. In fact, it could have killed you, so the choice is obvious; it isn’t working out - it’s a toxic relationship. Let it go. And, by the way, it isn’t quitting or giving up; it’s self-preservation and sometimes being selfish is a good thing.</p>
<p>If you are comfortable at Hope, it is FAR better that you succeed there. It’s about your health and that comes first. One of my kids was at a highly impressive school, but she has differences and didn’t make it. She’s back at a local community college. G-d bless this particular community college. So, go to Hope U., stay clean, graduate, fall in love, have a family, have a wonderful, wonderful life.</p>
