Am I crazy?

I am a transfer student who is going to be attending my first quarter at Davis as a psych major. I finished all my lower division coursework (IGETC) and pre-reqs.

I registered for 3 upper division classes and a lower division 3 unit class that is more for fun…so 15 units. I am taking Psych 100, 101, and 140.

During orientation, we were told we should only take only 12 units and 2 upper divisions during our first quarter. Also, not to take psych 100 and 101 in the same semester. I feel like I’m wasting my time if I only take 2 upper divisions…

Also, I was having a hard time fitting classes into my schedule, and 100 and 101 worked in well.

My question is, am I crazy? Or is this schedule actually do able? I’m coming from a ccc that runs on semesters. Any input is appreciated!

Honestly, I am in exactly the same boat you are except I am taking 16 units, three English classes and one Philosophy class. It does seem like an incredible waste of time not to get down in the nitty gritty since we have our GE’s done already, but I am apprehensive about how I will fare this semester. I think the easiest indicator though will be your performance in cc and what your attitude was. If you are one of those people that consistently has high hopes and low outcomes then why f-up the start of Davis with another over zealous move.

I doubt that the schedule is impossible though, spend 40 hours in the library and everything is possible ;).

Hmm…

Well. There are some things to get used to when you transfer to Davis. Most notably, not like freshmen adjusting to college life, but rather the change of pace. Quarter system and semester system are completely different. I’ve had friends change from semester to quarter and totally did not expect it, and others that adjusted rather quickly and did fine. Only you know your abilities. Just be careful, because sometimes things dont seem like what they are. If you take all 3 upper div psych classes, you should be fine. I know some bio sci majors end up taking 3 core science classes upper div altogether sometimes.

And equinebeing, if you are really nervous, throw in a GPA booster class to ease things off the load. Even if you’ve finished GEs, there are other classes that may spark your interest.
