Current Junior here. I took the February 10th ACT and got a 34 (33,29,36,36) but my superscore went to a 35 (33,34,36,36). Do yall think I’m done taking it? Probably will ED to Duke and apply RD to Most Ivies and Georgetown, as well as some safeties and one or 2 targets.
Yep, you’re good! No college makes a huge distiction between 34 and 36. It all comes down to GPA, ECs, and essays now. Good luck!
You are fine with your scores. Good luck!
as long as your schools superscore, you are done.
Even without, they are probably fine.
@michaelcollege does Georgetown superscore…or do they look at all submitted scores and make their own judgement. They do require all scores be sent.
The difference between 34, 35, and 36 is miniscule, and if you get rejected from a school it won’t be because of your ACT score, superscoring or not (and most colleges superscore). That’s when you know it’s time to stop.
I am sure @Ae1231 and @Shelby_Balik know beter than I do. That was my quesion as well and the 29 section presents an issue at a test-oriented school like GT.
I suspect the 29 won’t be an issue, because even if a school doesn’t superscore, wouldn’t they take the OP’s highest set of scores?
not as sure as you guys are
I share your apprehension. Georgetown neither superscores nor uses score choice. Their website says:
- Georgetown does not use the new ACT super score optional reports. Please send all individual ACT scores to our office from each ACT test administration as we are not a score choice school.
Score Choice
Georgetown does not participate in Score Choice and requires submission of each applicant’s complete testing record, including all SAT, ACT, and/or SAT Subject test scores. We remain firmly committed to a comprehensive and holistic review of all applications, and test scores are considered in their appropriate context.
That said, I’m not sure that the OP would likely gain much taking it again. The weakest section has already improved significantly, and the other sections have remained the same.
You are done. Those scores are good enough for anywhere.
Final comment from me.
If Harvard, Yale, Georgetown do not superscore - I am not as confident as @parentologist . They may be right, however, but I try not to dispense false info.
Good luck. My son took the ACT once, got a 34 and scored highly on the 3 SAT subject tests Georgetown required a few years ago (including an 800) and was rejected by Georgetown and Columbia. We are from NJ, which has a lot of high stats kids. I knew a Georgetown interviewer who said they reject two out of three valedictorians so it’s a hard admit, but if you can add geographic diversity I think your chances are improved.
Throwing something in about Georgetown here, I did email them a while back about my test scores, and this is what they replied with:
From what I interpret they don’t accept Superscores per se, but look at the “superscore” from each section.
Congrats on a great ACT score!
Yep. I think they just want to know if someone took it twice to get their superscore vs like 20 times. Because people do actually do that.
Just for sake of mind – Yale does superscore ACT
“Yes. Applicants may report “super-scored” results from the SAT or ACT, i.e. their highest section scores or a recalculated ACT composite score from across multiple test administrations. Applicants reporting results from the SAT should include scores from the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math sections. Applicants reporting results from the ACT should include scores from the English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science sections as well as a Composite Score. The writing section is optional.”
