Am I getting a boost?

Im a current junior who is looking into colleges. My brother currently is a junior at Duke and he and his girlfriend (also at Duke) claim that Duke is filled with siblings, and that it is easier to get in with a sibling attending or attended in the past. I was wondering the validity of this statement. For context, I have the GPA and test scores and pretty solid extracurriculars compared to my peers.

Duke does legacy.

Do siblings count as legacy though?

I think this is one of those questions that you can guess the answer, believe you know the answer, and even produce examples - but you’ll never find anything beyond the anecdotal.

If your parents or grandparents were, then yes, they acknowledge a lift.

Be the best you that you can be - not just in class but outside - and put yourself in an optimal admission position.

No matter your family ties - you still need to be legit in your overall application.

Best of luck.

Edit - online, through the Duke newspaper and third parties, it says parents and grandparents but obviously @Chekov found otherwise.

Still, no matter what, you still need to deliver the overall portfolio. Good luck.
