Schools

Reach

USC
–> Roski Fine Arts (applied to this because I have a better shot… I really like the Thorton Music Industry program though as well as the Cinematic Arts school)

NYU
–> Steinhardt (figured this was my best bet…) either Media, Culture, and Communications or Studio Art (i love Tisch but it’s a risky shot)

RISD
–> all depends on if they think my portfolio is strong enough

Reasonable

Boston University
–> Graphic Design/Advertising

Syracuse
–> Newhouse (Graphic Design), 2nd choice VPA

RIT
–> Advertising Photography

Northeastern
–> Music Industry
–> Marketing

Drexel
–> Westphal (Design and Merchandising)

Note: I feel like my portfolio is pretty strong and that’s part of the application, so I guess I’m just wondering statistically if I have a good shot at getting in at some of these schools.

I think you have a great chance at most all of your schools. NYU is sort of a roll the dice sort of deal, you have a fighting chance, but it’s good that you have back ups. Your first three schools are reaches but with a good portfolio you have no reason to be strongly considered, and the rest of your schools are definite matches and safeties. your scores are a tad low but especially if you’re applying to more arts, music, writing related programs, the SAT and ACT are going to be far less important than your GPA and portfolio. Then again… I think you know that already :P
