for context i got into umich smtd for music performance (rd)- because my 1st sem transcripts weren’t available yet i only submitted my 9-11 grades which were As and Bs. Jr year was rough for me- i got really sick and had to be out of school which made me drop to Bs in 4 of my classes as my yearly average. senior year was supposed to be better for me, but i still had lingering problems from getting sick and had to go to physical therapy. my mental health got really bad because of this and i got diagnosed with depression at the end of 2025 (i already had anxiety and adhd). since then ive been switching on and off different medications- after all of this my grades have not been good at all. im doing well in this last quarter of the school year but im still most likely going to end up with 4 C’s and 1 B as my yearly average. on the website it says that 3 or more Cs can get you rescinded but they may give students the opportunity to explain why their grades are low?? how would/should i go about explaining my grades- should i contact admissions now or wait for them to reach out to me? is my situation even a valid explanation??? i just don’t know what to do i feel so stupid i know i should have done better.
Contact University of Michigan and ask. And get good documentation for the concerns you noted above.

Agree with the above. Only UM admissions can provide a definitive answer.
And please do everything possible to get your physical and mental health issues to a manageable place before starting college.

Contact your AO on Monday with an email and detail everything. Work on it this weekend and send this weekend. Provide pertinent information. Don’t abbreviate or text like you’re doing here. They might give you academic warning first.
Once that is cleared up seek advice for help through Michigan for the support you will need through out the year.
