Hello, I’m very interesed in get into Cornell because they have great scolarships for international students, and I love their architecture program.

I did about 4-5 EC’s (I started with them in 10th grade), I got some national (3) and international awards (1), and I worked as freelance UI/UX Designer designing apps, websites, and also with illustration and branding for a lot of projects since 2010. Also, I worked in a bakery, but it wasn’t a long time because I LOVE and I prefer to work in the design area.

I got a 3,4 GPA in 9th grade, but I got 4,0 in 10th, 11th grade and 3,9 in 12th grade. Does the cumulative GPA consider the 9th grade? I don’t know about that because in my country we use something called “NEM” and it considers the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade marks. I have some problems in the weighted GPA because here I can’t take any AP Classes.

Also, I got 2200 in SAT and in the SAT II I got 750 in Math II, 790 in French and 720 in Bio M. Am I a competitive applicant for Cornell? If I don’t, do you know any university where I can get in and wich offers scolarships for international students? (something like Cornell in this area)

Cornell doesn’t give “scholarships”…it gives need based aid for those who qualify. Many people don’t qualify. The school looks over the family’s finances and determines what they should pay.

As for other schools…there are some that give scholarships for high stats to int’ls… I’m not sure which ones have Architecture.

You may be good enough but still not accepted, because Cornell cannot accept all of the qualified people who apply. Go to the financial aid threads and look at the top of them for the one that lists automatic merit scholarships. See if there are any schools listed there that interest you.

My parents earn near $60,000 per year, and the Cornell’s tuition fees are near $50,000 per year, so I think I qualify for a need based aid (you’re right, I misused the “scholarship” concept and I wrote it wrong too).

lol if you’re international you might not get any money. I know someone whose family makes about $70-80k USD (~500,000 renminbi), and he doesn’t get any financial aid.

Remember that Cornell’s undergraduate program is around #1 in the nation, so competition will be fiercer there than, say, the arts and sciences school, and your decision will rely heavily on the quality of your portfolio.
