<p>Essay:
My friends brother runs a popular college consulting thing based out of Cambridge - he’s a PhD student at MIT.</p>
<p>He said my essay was the best she had ever read. He probably reads hundreds of essays monthly.</p>
<p>My AP English IV teacher asked if she could use it as an example. I declined since I didn’t want people to copy it and all.</p>
<p>Recommendations:</p>
<p>I’m going to get one BADASS recommendation from my english teacher. The other one will be so-so/good.</p>

<p>Your rank isn’t amazing. Most people who get into the Ivies are in the top 5% of their class. What is your UW/W GPA? That might help us get a better sense of how well you rank.</p>
<p>You’re an Asian male, one of the worst possible demographics. Your ECs are a bit weak, they show focus, but they’re not overly amazing or anything. I know a bunch of people in DECA/Debate/gone to Africa/etc etc. My guess is you’ll probably be deferred early from Wharton. You have a better shot early at Dartmouth; their acceptance rates are higher.</p>
<p>Hmm I am going to respectfully disagree with the other people here. I am not admissions expert, but I think your ECs are pritty up to par for Wharton. I mean, its depth not breadth that counts. You founded a business and spend 30 hrs/week working as an intern…meaning you are spending a significant amount of time doing your ECs…that is really wat colleges want to see. With that said, you dont have any awards listed, so if you really dont have any that will seriously hinder your chances at Wharton. I’d say you have about a 40-45% chance at Wharton ED…so while rejection is more likely…its not a lost cause to apply there ED.</p>
<p>You have a shot. Both Penn and Dartmouth will take issue with your rank but other things can compensate if they are truly good.</p>
<p>The one contradiction I see, and I have seen this over the years with many Wharton applicants, is your own business vs. your internship and other activities. Kids want to make us believe they run a successful business and then they have hundreds of hours elsewhere. Kind of hard to run a business when you’re doing all those other things.</p>
