Am I in good standings as a HS sophomore for future admission?

<p>Hi, I live in NC and go to a pretty well-known (and really good) public school. I am taking 2 AP classes (as many as I can at the moment, AP World and AP Environmental), and the rest honors (except band, orchestra, Spanish II, and health, which cannot be honors.) I am in Honors Algebra II and plan to take Precalculus over the summer to get further ahead in math. I want to do engineering (probably electrical, maybe biomedical) or be a doctor.</p>

<p>I have a 4.62 GPA, and made a 191 on my PSAT. I know I can do better on it, but that was just my first try. I also made a 27 composite score on the PLAN (pre-ACT, but only a 1-32 scoring range vs 1-36 on the ACT.) I know both scores will get substantially better with a little practice. I don’t have a Harvard legacy, because both of my parents went to smaller colleges. (Mercer and ECU.)</p>

<p>As far as extracurricular activities go, I am in marching/concert band, orchestra, Key Club, Math Club, International Club, run Varsity Track, and marched in the 2012 Rose Parade (our band director told us to put that on our college applications…)</p>

<p>Am I in okay standings as a sophomore? Does anyone know what Harvard looks for, specifically? (They always say stuff along the lines of “well-rounded, bright individuals” or whatever but never tell you exactly what they look for.)</p>

<p>According to the 2010-2011 Harvard Common Data Set (Page 9), accepted students had:</p>

<p>25% = 31 ACT, SAT 2100
75% = 34 ACT, SAT 2390</p>

<p>With regards to what Harvard looks for, that has been answered many times before in other cc forums. On the Harvard Forum, go to the top of the page under SEARCH THIS THREAD and type in “look for” and there are 14 pages of other contributors that have tried to answer that question.</p>
