Getting into any Ivy league school would be awesome or any schools of near selectivity.

When people say “Ivy League” it’s difficult to tell whether they are referring to all top schools of that caliber (like if Stanford and Caltech and MIT, etc., are also included) or whether they are literally talking just about the 8 schools in the athletic conference. The term is abused and there seems to be the idea that the conference is some Special Group of particularly selective colleges – which is weird, because there are many other universities that are just as selective (and honestly, more selective than some of the schools in the conference).

In any case, what in particular you are asking is relatively unclear. Can you get into an Ivy League school? Possibly. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with your grades and ACT/SAT scores, and you have some extracurriculars (nothing special, but you do have some). Will you get into one? shrugs The only way to know for sure is to apply. Top schools are far reaches for most anyone; you would be the average applicant at those places, nothing special, and possibly even slightly “below average”.

He is not one of those ignorant Ivy-obsessed folk, I think that’s clear.

As for OP’s chances, you have a good ACT (submit that and not the SAT) but you should have at least 2, probably 3 SATIIs. Also, you’re ECs don’t really stick out, but if you’ve had a unique experience with them, perhaps they can work to your advantage. As of right now, you pretty much are the average Ivy applicant and so admissions into top schools is really a crapshoot.

The Ivy League schools are really special and I don’t blame you one bit for aspiring to an Ivy League school. Yes, you have a chance at an Ivy League school. Go for it!

Actually, I think chuy has a point. Of course I’m probably biased since I don’t think “awesomeness” is a healthy goal for most people. Natopotato, help us out here. Why do you want to accepted to Princeton?

When people refer to an Ivy League school I would hope they are referring to one of the 8 schools in the Ivy League conference. I don’t know why it would mean anything else.

natopotato14: Your resume is strong but getting into the Ivy Leagues is exceptionally hard these days. You will get into some really good schools.
