<p>i was recently deferred from university of michigan. UM is a good school but i am sure that its well known that amherst is much more rigorous than UM. (i don’t know if it matters but i applied out of state for UM)</p>
<p>that said, should i be expecting a rejection letter from amherst come april?</p>
<p>Every school looks for different things. I know kids who were rejected at H, accepted Y, then rejected at lesser schools and accepted at more prestigious ones. As they say, expect the worst, hope for the best. Good luck!</p>

<p>I know. I was there with D just 2 years ago. But don’t despair. Stranger things have been known to happen. I still remember holding D in my arms as she cried. But things turned out for the best, and she couldn’t see herself going anywhere else. Remember the Tufts Syndrome? You may have been rejected because they thought you wouldn’t accept them anyway, since you probably would go to a higher ranked school. Who knows? It’s so hard to understand why one was accepted and another not in so many instances.</p>
