I recently just got denied from every UC(UCI, UCLA, Berkeley) I applied to and I’m extremely demotivated right now because I think I’m doing an okay job in school. I’m currently pursuing civil engineering with a 3.64 GPA. Was this good enough to be accepted into the following schools? Could I have made a mistake during the transfer process or was I just not good enough. When I was doing the transfer process I was sort of confused because not a single school asked for my transcript, and it says on the website they ask after they accept you but my high school friends were all asked before they were accepted.

Here is my academic background:
I’ve gotten A’s in almost all my classes, and the only classes I got B’s in are Electromagnetism, Multivariable Calculus, like three general ed classes and General Mechanics.
I’m currently taking differential equations & linear algebra & thermodynamics(might just drop thermodynamics because I’m doing poorly and it is hard to manage work and these hard courses). I have done surveying, but haven’t done statics yet(was planning to take it this semester, but instead circuits was available over statics). My general ed is also completely finished.
My first semester of physics (General Mechanics), I was dropped from the course because I overslept and missed one lab about 1/3 through the semester, so one drop is on my record. I have very little community service, like 50 hours logged because it’s hard to really make time for it. I’m not sure if age and ethnicity have anything to do with it, but I just turned 19 a few days ago and I’m Asian american. I’m also transferring from a Community College as a junior.

Yeah, I believe you were supposed to submit your transcripts around the time you submitted your application. The transcripts they request after you’re accepted are for the courses in progress. How would they know your grades if you never submitted your transcripts? I almost did the same thing as you when I was transferring(I didn’t apply to any UCs). It doesn’t say anything about transcripts on your app, but I heard about it from a friend. I guess it’s assumed it is common knowledge. Sorry. I hope you didn’t miss your chance. Hopefully I’m wrong and the process isn’t the same for the UCs. Good luck.

Thank you. I really don’t know what to do right now. I only have one class left I can take at this school and I’m throwing away a whole year of education. I also don’t want to get rusty in my topics because of a year-long break.

You should have applied to more schools, including safety schools, in order to reduce the risk of being shut out.

Regarding transcripts, if UCs do the same for transfer as frosh admissions, they “trust but verify” what you tell them are your courses and grades. If a UC admits you, and you decide to attend, the UC will want your transcript to verify that what you reported was true, and to see that you did not do poorly in or drop in-progress courses that you reported. Presumably, it means less paperwork for them to deal with in the application stage (the number of applicants is greater than the number of matriculants), and no cost to send transcripts to UCs until you matriculate to one. But verify whether this is true.

Most other schools do ask for transcripts at the time of application.

Doesn’t your community college have a person in admissions who helps with transfers to UC? Mine does - I’m guessing they all do. You should go see that person asap.

My sympathies. But why only three schools, all of which are hard to get into? UC has a CC guaranteed admission program into Irvine so questioning race and age is a bit illogical? Did you follow the TAG program to the letter?

Yeah, I got all of my letters on Friday, so I’m going on campus today to speak to that person. As for why I only applied to three schools, I applied under the impression that I would get into at least one (big mistake), but this was based on the fact that my peers who had substantially less upper division done than me and a lower GPA got into the three schools.

As for age/race, I just hear a lot about affirmative action and I don’t know whether or not it’s heavily enforced or unenforced, but many campuses boast about their diversity.
